About Cleantool
Cleantool is a free collection of quick, dependable tools for designers, developers and the self-employed. Generators, converters and calculators that each do one job well, no sign-ups, no uploads, nothing leaving your browser unless you ask it to.
Local by default
Every tool runs in your browser. Nothing you type or paste is sent to a server.
One screen, one job
No wizards, no paywalls, no pop-ups. Land on a tool and the first input is already focused.
Greyscale on purpose
Black, white and grey only, so the thing you're making is the only colour on screen.
Why we built it
Most online utilities bury a five-second task under ads, pop-ups and upload queues. You want a QR code, and suddenly a page is asking for your email. You want to convert a colour, and the answer sits below three banners and a newsletter sign-up. Cleantool is the opposite of that.
Each tool opens straight to its input, does the calculation or conversion the moment you type, and shows the result on the same screen. Where it helps, you get a chart or a breakdown, the mortgage and loan calculators plot the full balance over the term, the tax calculators show how every pound is split. The goal is the answer, fast, with enough context to trust it.
Everything runs client-side. That isn't a gimmick, it means the tools work offline once loaded, your data never touches our servers, and there is no database to leak. The trade-off is that Cleantool can't remember your figures between visits, so each tool keeps its own small, local memory on your device only.
Built and maintained by LynasMedia
Cleantool is made and maintained by LynasMedia, the studio of Ellis Lynas. We build digital products with a bias towards speed, clarity and doing less better, the same principles that shape every tool on this site.
LynasMedia owns the Cleantool trademark and develops the tools, the underlying tax and finance logic, and the long-form guides that sit alongside them. The UK tax calculators track the current tax year's bands, allowances and rates so the figures stay accurate as the rules change.
We treat Cleantool as a craft project as much as a product: it's a place to ship small, honest utilities and to keep them sharp over time rather than chasing features for their own sake.
